How to carbon capture ?

There are several ways to capture carbon emissions:

  1. Pre-combustion capture: This involves capturing carbon dioxide before it is released during the combustion process. This can be done by reforming natural gas or coal with oxygen to create a mixture of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, which can then be separated and captured.
  2. Post-combustion capture: This involves capturing carbon dioxide after it has been released during the combustion process. This can be done by using chemical solvents or absorbing agents that can bind to carbon dioxide and remove it from the flue gases.
  3. Oxy-fuel combustion: This involves burning fossil fuels in a mixture of oxygen and recycled flue gases, which creates a stream of pure carbon dioxide that can be easily captured and stored.
  4. Carbon capture and storage (CCS): This involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, industrial facilities, and other sources and storing it underground in geological formations, such as depleted oil and gas reservoirs or saline aquifers.
  5. Direct air capture: This involves using large machines that use chemical processes to absorb carbon dioxide directly from the air. The carbon dioxide can then be captured and stored or used for other purposes, such as creating carbon-neutral fuels or fertilizers.
