There are several methods for capturing carbon:
- Carbon capture and storage (CCS) involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions from power plants or industrial processes and injecting them into underground geologic formations or oceans.
- Carbon capture and utilization (CCU) involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions and using them as a feedstock for the production of chemicals, fuels, and other materials.
- Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions and storing them in underground geologic formations or oceans.
- Carbon capture and reuse (CCR) involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions and using them as a feedstock for the production of chemicals, fuels, and other materials.
- Carbon offsetting involves reducing or eliminating carbon dioxide emissions through the use of clean energy technologies or by purchasing carbon credits from projects that reduce or eliminate carbon dioxide emissions.
